I took this photo of a dear friend's mother on the patio of their Cartagena, Colombia home. She has been wearing this white mourning dress for twelve years now ever since her daughter and son-in-law were murdered by the para military. I wanted only to convey the depth of feeling and sadness this mother lives with.
